“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned
for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”
- Leonardo da Vinci
Although we have very nice Lightspeed ZULU headsets, Millie doesn’t like that they
clamp her head, mess up her hair and she can’t wear ear rings with them. So I decided
to make a set that mimic expensive in the ear ones. Using parts I already had and
a $9.99 volume control module, I put together a prototype headset. The first test
flight with the headset (2hrs) went so well I sometimes forgot I was wearing them.
In flight noise reduction was as good as our Lightspeed Zulus while radio reception
and intercom chatter were crystal clear. While flying I asked St. Augustine tower
for a radio check and they said the audio quality was excellent. Next step is to
make one up that looks nice.
