Main Landing Gear Box Repair & Upgrade
While doing a routine inspection I noticed a small piece of hard rubber had broken off the main landing gear attach point. Further inspection showed the four main landing gear attach points had significant tear damage and needed repair. With the help of many persons I got the damage repaired. By going to an AN-7 bolt, with 18 plies of 9oz fiberglass, 2 plies of 9oz carbon fiber and a 3/16” steel plate the area was beefed up significantly. I feel this should never again be a problem.
